Spain has the reputation of being the European gateway for Latin American cocaine and North African hashish entering the European market.
Spain continues to be the largest consumer of cocaine in the European Union as well, with four percent of young adults reportedly using cocaine during 2005.
The country also ranks in the top four of all EU nations in its consumption of designer drugs and hashish.
And what this means in terms of ruined lives, let alone the cost in law enforcement, prisons and rehabilitation, is inestimable.
Scientologists hold that psychotropic or street drugs cause mental and spiritual damage to the individual, totally in addition to the physical harm they bring about. They decrease awareness; they hinder one's abilities. They may appear to be a "solution" but they become a far more serious problem than the one the drug-user was trying to solve or overcome to begin with. And drugs never really solve the initial problem anyway.

So Spanish Scientologists are in the forefront of the movement to cut off drug use at the first point of the line — by educating young people on the truth about drugs and helping them commit themselves to living drug-free lives.
And they now have a new tool to accomplish this — brand new booklets presenting the truth about such drugs as alcohol, marijuana, inhalants, ecstasy, cocaine, Ritalin, crystal meth (methamphetamine), heroin, LSD and painkillers.
So expect to see them out in the streets, and ask them any questions you have on the subject. They can help you help the people you love live better and drug-free lives.
