13 Feb 2007 — Scientology Volunteer Ministers of Florida at the Ready

Scientology Volunteer Ministers of Florida are putting out a call for volunteers throughout the state to be ready to help over the next few days.

Having gained experience by helping their fellow Floridians recover from every hurricane to hit Florida in the last four years the Scientology Volunteer Ministers of Tampa live up to their motto, that no matter how bad it is, "Something Can be Done About It."

Meteorologists warned Florida residents today of that more severe weather, even tornados, could be coming their way and the Scientology Disaster Relief Team, which responded within hours of the February 2nd twisters touching down in Lake County, Florida, are contacting experienced Volunteer Ministers to be on standby in case their help is needed.

The Scientology Disaster Relief Team of the Church of Scientology of Tampa, is headed by Volunteer Minister coordinator Judy Fagerman. Having gained experience by helping their fellow Floridians recover from every hurricane to hit Florida in the last four years, Ms. Fagerman was instrumental in coordinating the 900-strong team of VMs who traveled from around the country to help in Louisiana and Mississippi following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005.

Volunteer Ministers in their famous bright yellow shirts have become welcome partners in emergency response services, helping people recover from natural and man-made disaster around the world. And with their new program of providing on-site workshops, seminars and courses to any group wanting the service, it is not surprising that there are now 95,000 VMs.

"We will train anyone who wants to join us," said Ms. Fagerman, "the only requirement we have is that the person wants to help."
